Import your CAMS / KFintech CAS statement
A CAS (Consolidated Account Statement) is the statement India’s mutual fund registrars, CAMS and KFintech, send you. It lists every mutual fund folio held under your PAN: the fund, its ISIN, the folio number, your units, what you paid and what they are worth today. It is the standard way Indian investors bring their mutual fund history into a tracker.
Agni Folio’s AI Import reads a CAS and turns each folio into a holding. You check everything before it’s saved, and next month’s statement updates the same holdings instead of adding copies.
1. Get your CAS
Section titled “1. Get your CAS”You can request a CAS for free from any of these. Each sends a PDF by email, usually within minutes:
| Where | What it covers |
|---|---|
| CAMS — camsonline.com, CAS request under investor services | Funds serviced by CAMS and KFintech, if you choose the consolidated option |
| KFintech — mfs.kfintech.com, CAS request | Funds serviced by KFintech and CAMS, if you choose the consolidated option |
| MF Central — mfcentral.com | A CAS covering both registrars |
Choose a detailed statement if you want the transactions (every SIP instalment, redemption and switch), or a summary if you only want today’s holdings. While requesting it, you set the password that protects the PDF.
2. Upload it
Section titled “2. Upload it”- Open AI Import.
- Drop the CAS PDF into the upload box (PDF, up to 10 MB).
- CAS PDFs are password-protected. When Agni Folio asks, type the PDF’s password — the one you chose when you requested it.
- Wait while the statement is read. A long CAS can take a few minutes. You can leave the page; the import keeps running and you can reopen it from Import History.
No PDF at hand? Copy the text of the statement and paste it into the import box, or paste it into Astra chat. The result is the same.
3. Review, then confirm
Section titled “3. Review, then confirm”Nothing is saved until you confirm. On the Review Parsed Entries screen:
- Each row is one folio of one fund. The folio number appears under the fund name.
- Every row can be edited. Fix a name, units or a date here — it’s far easier than fixing it after import.
- Choose the Target Account — the person these funds belong to (for example Self or Wife; see Accounts).
- Click Confirm & Import.
How funds are matched
Section titled “How funds are matched”A fund is identified by its ISIN (the 12-character code starting with INF on your statement) plus its folio number, inside the account you chose.
- Several folios of one fund stay separate. If you hold the same fund in three folios, you get three holdings, each with its own units and cost. Pick By Fund (ISIN) in the holdings table’s grouping menu to see them rolled up into one line per fund, and expand a fund to see its folios.
- Importing the same statement again adds nothing new. Each folio updates the holding it created the first time.
- Holdings you added before, without a folio number, get the folio number only when the units match the statement exactly. If they don’t, the folio becomes its own holding and the review screen says so; merge the two yourself if they really are the same.
The statement is the truth
Section titled “The statement is the truth”Say you hold 100 units, then redeem 50 on the fund house’s website and never record it here. Next month’s CAS says 50 units. When you import it:
| Statement vs Agni Folio | What happens |
|---|---|
| Statement shows more units | The holding is topped up to match |
| Same units | Nothing changes |
| Statement shows fewer units, and you haven’t recorded anything on that holding after the statement date | The holding is corrected down to the statement |
| Statement shows fewer units, but you recorded something newer than the statement | Left alone — the app knows about something the statement doesn’t |
| Statement shows fewer units, and the holding has buys and sells you entered yourself | Left alone — add the missing sale (redemption) so your cost and gains stay right |
A correction is not a sale: no sale price is invented and no gain or loss is booked. Your average cost per unit stays the same.
A folio that is missing from a newer statement is never deleted or set to zero — it may have been redeemed, merged into another folio, or simply not covered by that statement. It stays as it is until you change it.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”- Agni Folio never asks for your registrar, broker or email login. You bring the statement in yourself.
- The statement is read by an AI model to pull out the rows, so the details printed on it (your name, PAN, folio numbers) are part of what the model reads. The free plan uses free AI models; Premium uses paid models only, and lets you tick Maximum privacy before importing so the statement only goes to AI providers that promise not to keep it or train on it (the import may take a little longer).
- The PDF file itself is not kept after it is read. The text read from it is saved with the import so you can reopen and review it; remove the import from Import History to delete that record.
- The PDF password is never stored or logged.
After importing
Section titled “After importing”- Regular SIPs? Click Set up SIP from these after confirming, so future instalments are added automatically. See SIP, STP and SWP.
- Prices for Indian mutual funds refresh daily. When a fund has an ISIN, the official AMFI NAV is used as a source too.
- Something went wrong? See My Import Didn’t Work.
