Auto-sync statements by email
Email import keeps your banks, brokers and fund houses in sync without uploading files by hand. It works through the statements they already email you: you forward them, by hand or with an automatic rule, to your personal Agni Folio address. AI reads each statement into holdings and transactions, and nothing is saved to your portfolio until you review and confirm it.
It works with any bank, broker or fund house that emails you statements as PDF, CSV or Excel files.
Find your address
Section titled “Find your address”Open Settings > Email import (agnifolio.com/settings). Your personal forwarding address is shown there with a Copy button. It looks like this:
statements+<your code>@import.agnifolio.com
The code is unique to you, so anything sent to this address lands in your account only.
Quickest way: forward any statement
Section titled “Quickest way: forward any statement”No setup needed. Open a statement email, click Forward, paste your address, and send it. This works with every email service.
After you send it, the statement appears within a minute or two on AI Import, waiting for you to review and confirm it.
Set it up once: forward automatically
Section titled “Set it up once: forward automatically”To stop forwarding by hand, create a forwarding rule (some services call it a filter) in your email, once per bank or broker. Every statement from that sender is then forwarded to your address as it arrives, and still waits for you to confirm on AI Import before anything is saved.
The same steps are in the app under Settings > Email import > How to set it up, with your own address filled in.
- Open Gmail on a computer (gmail.com). Click the gear icon at the top right, then click See all settings.
- Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab at the top. Click Add a forwarding address, paste your address, then click Next, Proceed and OK.
- Wait a minute or two. Agni Folio confirms Gmail’s forwarding request for you. If the Settings page asks, click Confirm.
- Back in Gmail, click the sliders icon at the right end of the search bar (Show search options). In From, type your bank’s email address (or the address its statements come from), then click Create filter.
- Tick Forward it to and pick your address. Also tick Never send it to Spam, then click Create filter. Repeat for each bank or broker.
Leave Disable forwarding selected on the Forwarding tab: the filter forwards only your statements, not all your mail.
- Go to outlook.com and sign in. Click the gear icon at the top right to open Settings.
- Click Mail on the left, then Rules, then + Add new rule.
- Give the rule a name, for example Statements to Agni Folio. Under Add a condition, choose From and type your bank’s email address.
- Under Add an action, choose Forward to and paste your address. Click Save.
No confirmation code is needed. In the Outlook app on Windows or Mac, the same rule is under Home > Rules > Manage rules. Some work or school accounts block forwarding outside the company; if yours does, forward each statement by hand.
- Go to icloud.com/mail on a computer and sign in.
- Click the settings icon (a gear or …) at the top of the mailbox list on the left, then Settings, then Rules.
- Click Add a Rule. Choose is from, type your bank’s email address, then choose Forward to and paste your address. Click Done.
iCloud also has Forward my email to under Settings, but we don’t recommend it: every email you get would be sent to us.
Yahoo Mail asks you to verify an automatic forwarding address with a link we can’t read yet, so forward statements by hand for now:
- Open the statement email and click Forward.
- Paste your address and click Send.
It arrives in your import list within a minute or two.
Zoho Mail asks you to verify an automatic forwarding address with a link we can’t read yet, so forward statements by hand for now:
- Open the statement email and click Forward.
- Paste your address and click Send.
It arrives in your import list within a minute or two.
- Open a statement email, click Forward, paste your address, and send it. This works with every email service.
- If your email has rules or filters (usually in Settings, under the gear icon), make one: when an email is from your bank, forward it to your address.
Password-protected PDFs
Section titled “Password-protected PDFs”Many banks and fund houses lock their PDF statements with a password. Save it once under Settings > Email import > Statement passwords:
- Add one password per sender. In Sender, type the part after
@in the address your statements come from (for exampleyourbank.com). - Leave Sender empty to save a default password, tried for any sender without its own.
- For each statement, the sender’s own password is tried first, then the default. Another sender’s password is never used.
- Passwords are stored encrypted, used only to open your statement PDFs, and never shown again. You can remove one at any time.
If a locked statement arrived before you saved its password, you don’t need to forward it again: it opens automatically once the password is saved.
What gets read
Section titled “What gets read”- File types: PDF, CSV, XLS and XLSX attachments, including attachments inside a forwarded email. Images and other files are ignored.
- Size: up to 10 MB per attachment.
- Daily limit: up to 30 statements in any rolling 24 hours.
- Duplicates: the same statement forwarded twice is imported once. A statement you have already confirmed is not imported again; it shows as already imported.
Review and confirm
Section titled “Review and confirm”Each statement appears on AI Import within a minute or two, already read into holdings and transactions. Open it, check the rows, fix anything that looks wrong, and confirm, the same as a statement you upload yourself. Nothing is added to your portfolio until you confirm. See My Import Didn’t Work if the results need fixing.
Uploading a file on AI Import and pasting a statement into Astra chat still work as before.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”- We never see your mailbox. Agni Folio never asks for your email login or password. Only the emails you forward reach us.
- The original email is deleted from our mailbox right after it is read, and the statement file is not kept once it has been read, the same as a file you upload by hand.
- A locked PDF that no saved password opens is held for up to 7 days, still locked and encrypted, so it can open by itself once you save its password. After that it is deleted.
- Deleting your account erases your imported statements.
Free and Premium
Section titled “Free and Premium”Email import works on the free plan. Premium uses the more accurate AI reader for messy PDFs and scans, the same as for statements you upload.
