Crypto Cost Basis
An exchange connection tells Agni Folio what you hold and what it’s worth today. It doesn’t automatically know what you paid. That purchase price, called the cost basis, is what profit and loss are calculated from.
Setting your cost basis
Section titled “Setting your cost basis”You set the cost basis by asking Astra in chat, or an AI assistant connected through MCP. There are two ways.
Tell it your average buy price
Section titled “Tell it your average buy price”Enter one average purchase price per coin, in US dollars:
“Set my BTC cost basis to $42,000 and ETH to $2,300.”
Setting it again for the same coin replaces the old figure.
Rebuild it from your trades (KuCoin)
Section titled “Rebuild it from your trades (KuCoin)”For KuCoin, Astra can work out the cost basis from your recent trades:
“Recover my crypto cost basis from KuCoin.”
This reads about the last 13 weeks of spot and margin trades and averages what you paid. Coins you bought before that window still need an average price set by hand. Other exchanges aren’t supported for this yet.
Checking profit and loss
Section titled “Checking profit and loss”Ask Astra:
“What’s my crypto profit and loss by coin?”
You’ll get the unrealised gain or loss for each coin, based on the cost basis above.
