Connecting a Crypto Exchange

Connect an exchange once and Agni Folio fetches your balances every hour, so your net worth always includes your crypto without manual updates.

OKX keys from its global, EEA and other regional sites all work — the right one is picked automatically.

Step 1: Create an API key on the exchange

In your exchange’s account settings, look for API Management and create a new key.

Give the key read-only access

Agni Folio only ever reads balances and trade history. It never places orders or moves funds. Turn on read permission only, and leave trading and withdrawal permissions off. A read-only key can’t be used to move your money, even if someone else got hold of it.

The exchange shows you an API key and a secret key (and, for KuCoin, OKX and Coinbase, the passphrase you chose). Copy them somewhere safe — most exchanges only show the secret once.

Step 2: Add the connection in Agni Folio

1. Open your profile menu and choose Source Connections, or go to agnifolio.com/settings/source-connections.
2. Click Add Exchange (Add Your First Exchange if this is your first).
3. Fill in the form:
   • Exchange — pick your exchange
   • Display Name — how it will appear in your portfolio, e.g. My Binance. Each name must be unique.
   • Portfolio Account — which account the holding belongs to
   • API Key, Secret Key, and Passphrase where required
4. Save. Agni Folio checks the key with the exchange straight away. If the check fails, you’ll see Invalid API credentials with the reason the exchange gave.

Your keys are encrypted (AES-256) before they’re stored.

What gets tracked

Depending on the exchange, Agni Folio reads your spot balances plus wallets such as Earn / Savings, Funding, Staking, and margin or futures accounts. Margin shows as one net figure — what you hold minus what you’ve borrowed.

• In your portfolio, each connection appears as one holding named after its Display Name, showing the total value.
• Coin-by-coin detail is on the crypto pages: Crypto Overview and Crypto Exchanges.
• Tiny leftover amounts (“dust”) below 0.00000001 of a coin are ignored.

Keeping it up to date

• Automatic — balances sync every hour.
• Manual — click Sync Now on a connection, or Sync All for every connection. The Crypto Overview page also has a refresh button.
• Each connection shows its Last Sync time and whether it’s Active.

If automatic sync fails 5 times in a row (for example, because the key was deleted on the exchange), the connection is switched off to stop repeated errors. Fix the key, then click Reactivate Connection.

Value history

The Crypto Performance chart on the Crypto Overview page records your total crypto value once a day, in your display currency. It starts from the day you connect, so it will look empty for the first day or two.

Pausing or removing a connection

• Pause — open the connection’s edit dialog and switch off Active.
• Remove — click the delete icon. This also removes the exchange’s holding and its stored balances from your portfolio, and it can’t be undone.

Tip

After removing a connection, also delete the API key on the exchange itself. Agni Folio can’t do that for you.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Try this
Invalid API credentials	Re-copy the key and secret — a stray space is the usual cause. Check the key hasn’t expired or been deleted
KuCoin, OKX or Coinbase rejects the key	Make sure you entered the passphrase you set when creating the key (not your login password)
Key works on the exchange but not here	If you restricted the key to certain IP addresses, remove the restriction
A wallet is missing	Sync again. Some wallet types (for example certain Earn products) are only read on some exchanges
Connection shows Inactive	Sync failed 5 times in a row. Fix the key and click Reactivate Connection
