Indian Platforms

This page covers what’s specific to Indian institutions. For how platforms work in general — the shared catalog, your own platform records, and managing them in Settings → Platforms — start with Platforms.

Typical Indian platforms are brokers and depositories like Zerodha, ICICI Securities and NSDL, and banks like HDFC Bank. Linking each entry to one lets you answer: Which demat account holds this stock? What’s my total NSDL exposure? Which folio number does my nominee need to contact?

When you link an entry to an Indian platform, the fields you fill in depend on its category:

Platform categoryFields collected
DematDP ID (e.g. IN301151), Client ID (e.g. 19314172)
Mutual FundFolio number, AMC code
BankAccount number, IFSC code

A demat account is identified by DP ID + Client ID, a bank account by account number and IFSC. Recording them against each holding lets you see your exposure per demat account and per bank.

Mutual fund CAS import doesn’t need a platform link: it matches funds by ISIN and folio number on its own — see Import your CAMS / KFintech CAS statement.

  • You have several demat accounts and bank relationships and want each holding tied to the account that holds it.
  • You hold the same stock across multiple brokers (e.g. INFY in Zerodha and INFY in ICICI Direct) and want them tracked as distinct holdings with distinct cost bases.
  • You want a handover your family can act on. The Death Readiness Checklist can print “Account 12345678 at HDFC Securities, contact +91-…” — exact, contactable, actionable.
