Tracking Investments

Agni Folio tracks six asset types. Each has its own form fields, but they all share two ideas:

  • Entries are positions you own (e.g. 100 shares of AAPL, a flat in Bangalore, an FD at HDFC).
  • Transactions are events on those positions (buy, sell, dividend received, loan repayment).

For traded assets, Agni Folio fetches live prices and recalculates returns automatically. For untraded assets, you update the price manually when you want.

For listed equities across every major exchange:

  • Start typing a ticker in the search box — Yahoo Finance autocompletes globally: AAPL (NASDAQ), TSLA (NASDAQ), BP.L (LSE), SAP.DE (Xetra), 7203.T (Tokyo), RELIANCE.NS (NSE India), HSBC.HK (Hong Kong), and more
  • Enter quantity and your average cost basis
  • Live price is pulled automatically; gain/loss recalculates on every page load
  • Holdings in non-base currencies auto-convert using real-time FX rates

Buy more later? Add a BUY transaction — Agni Folio recalculates your weighted-average cost basis (your “DCA” price). Sell partial? Add a SELL transaction — realised gains are tracked separately from your unrealised holdings.

Dividends are tracked as a separate transaction type and contribute to your total return metric.

Every entry has an edit screen (the pencil icon on the holdings table). Update price, quantity, cost basis, or any other field — Agni Folio recalculates derived values like average cost basis, unrealized gain/loss, and display return automatically on save.

Open any entry’s detail page to see its transaction history. Transactions are the source of truth for cost basis and realized gains — adding, editing, or deleting a transaction triggers a full recalculation of the entry’s metrics.
